Google Drive lets you share files faster based on who you talk to most

As of today, Google is making sharing files even easier by adding suggested contacts straight to its share sheet, according to an entry on the company’s blog.

Google Workspace has added a new row of suggested contacts below the field you normally use to type a contact’s name or email address, which changes dynamically based on who you share the most with.

The update has already begun rolling out, but some users may not see the changes for two weeks. The new suggestions bar is only available to Workspace and legacy G Suite accounts, if they’re even able to access it. The change does not affect personal accounts (at least for now).

Over the past few weeks, Google has also been tweaking its share sheet.

At the point of sharing a file, Google has added the option to control sharing expiry. In the past, users had to share a file, then re-visit the sharing pane to amend permissions. After it’s rolled out (to certain Workspace business customers), workers can set up permissions more easily.

Users aren’t the only ones changing how they share files with Google. It is also possible that Microsoft is tweaking its process.
