Airtel launches its own 4G SmartPhone at 1,399 only , takes on JIO completely

So the wait is over now, Airtel has launched its 4G smartphone in the market with tying up with the indian smartphone brand Karbonn. There was already rumours going on after the launch of Jio Phone that Airtel was meeting with different brands to launch its own effective Phone and Now Coming One step ahead, Airtel beats Jio Phone by offering a SmartPhone instead of a feature Phone unlike Jio in less cost as compared to Jio Phone.

It is the first time Airtel has partnered with a smartphone Brand to launch a highly effective 4G Smartphone. This 4G smartphone comes in the budget price of just Rs 1,399 , which is nearly 60% lower than the actual price of the smartphone which is 3,499 in the market. It has dual sim support whereas Jio Phone supports only single sim. It is a touch screen smartphone unlike a feature Phone of Jio. After sales support for the devices will be provided by the handset manufacturers, said the company.

Also with the Smartphone, Airtel has launched its special tariff plan of Rs 169 for the users of this Phone. This plan offers 500MB per day with unlimited calls for 28 days.

Full Specification of the Airtel-Karbonn A40 Phone

Getting you clear that karbonn has not made the Phone specially for Airtel , Its the Airtel who is giving you subsidy and providing this Phone for just Rs 1,399. So, the specification of the Phone remains same as it was previously for Rs 3,499. So, Users are getting same Phone which was worth 3,499 at just 1,399.

This Phone offers a 4 inch FWVGA Display , is powered with 1.3 GHZ chipset , have 1 GB ram and 8 GB of storage internally which can be expanded with a Micro SD card upto 32 GB. This Phone is running on a Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box which will get Oreo update or not, Can’t say – it doesn’t matters even. Now the main highlight is its dual sim feature which Jio Phone is not offering and both the slots are open which means you can use any Sim in the Phone. This Phone has two cameras – One at the back and one at the front. Rear camera is 2MP and front camera is VGA. This Phone has bluetooth, GPS and even Wifi but it also lacks Hotspot feature like Jio Phone. Battery storage of this Phone is just 1400 mAh which will be able to last even a day or not with 4G internet, Can’t say.

Difference Between Airtel Phone and Jio Phone

Jio Phone is a feature Phone whereas Airtel Phone is a touch smartphone.

Jio Phone runs on Kai OS Platform whereas Airtel Phone runs on Android Platform.

Jio Phone have access to Jio apps whereas Airtel Phone has access to Airtel apps.

Jio Phone has single sim support thats also only locked for  Jio sim whereas in Airtel Phone, you can use Dual Sims of any company.

In Jio Phone, you cannot run Whatsapp has there is no support in Kai OS for Whatsapp till now but in Airtel Phone you can have access to all the apps in the Google play store as it is running on Android.

Battery Backup of Jio Phone is better than Airtel Phone.

How to Buy The Airtel 4G smartphone

Everyone knows when there is a scheme, there is a * also in the scheme chart blushing and hiding its face somewhere in the corner. So, To get this smartphone for 1,399, there is also a list of terms and conditions.

First of all, You have to  submit Rs 2,899 to get this Phone and you have to minimum do the recharge of Rs 6000 on your Phone in the span of 36 months (Rs 3000 in the first 18 months and the rest Rs 3000 in the next 18 months) to claim the cash benefit of Rs 1500 (Rs 500 after first 18 months and Rs 1000 after 36 months). You can make continuous recharge for 36 months of its special plan of 169 on the Airtel Sim or if you are not satisfied with the benefits of this plan, you can go for a higher one too and you do not have to return this smartphone after 36 months.

Airtel said in the press statement –

“The ownership of the smartphone is complete with the customer and there is no need to return the device to Airtel/Karbonn at any point to claim the cash benefit” 

Airtel also told that it is going to partner with many other Smartphone brands to give more choices to customers. The whole competition is going to benefit the customers at the end and in the coming times, market will flow up with more 4G phones at the price of feature Phone.
